Indo-Gangetic Plains - Center for Air Research and Education (IGP-CARE)

News: Jun 20, 2016

IGP-CARE is a pioneering research initiative of GAC that is administered by the University of Gothenburg. A new research station has been established in rural India to focus on air monitoring and characterization of short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) including black carbon and tropospheric ozone.

India is a hotspot for biomass-burning-influenced Atmospheric Brown Clouds and hazes that induce adverse health affects in addition to impacting climate, water, and food security. IGP-CARE is aimed at monitoring the changing environment and engaging the local community to benefit vulnerable rural populations and ecosystems.
