Conference gathers atmospheric scientists in Gothenburg

News: Apr 26, 2016

On 26-27 of April Gothenburg Atmospheric Research Centre arranges a two days conference gathering scientists, students, policy makers, stakeholders and other parties interested in climate, air quality, and related processes and issues.

Atmospheric science has a trans-disciplinary character and covers a broad range from detailed studies on atmospheric processes to the impact on the environment and human health, including social, economical and cultural aspects. Examples of areas of interest are ongoing climate change, depletion of the ozone layer, air quality and health and environmental effects caused by air pollutions. The GAC conference provides an extensive overview of ongoing research developments.

Jan Pettersson is a professor in atmospheric science at University of Gothenburg and since 2015 the director of GAC.
- Environmental change is a major concern worldwide and it is an exciting era for researchers as we continue to work towards the goal of sustainable development. The GAC community is well prepared to take on major challenges in this process, and I look forward to a stimulating exchange of ideas at the conference, says Jan Pettersson.

About GAC: The centre has more than 220 members from about 20 research groups, companies and authorities in the Göteborg region. The main objectives of the centre are to coordinate and strengthen research and education resources and to stimulate new activities. The 7th GAC conference takes place at the Wallenberg Conference Centre 26-27 of April 2016.
