Wanted: International Summer School for Sustainability Student Ambassadors

News: Feb 11, 2021

Information from the International Centre at the University of Gothenburg

Are you a student at the University of Gothenburg with a strong interest in sustainability issues? Do you thrive in international settings? Perfect! We are looking for two student ambassadors to work alongside the organizing team of the Summer School for Sustainability this summer (July 5-July 30, plus preparatory meetings before that).

Student ambassadors will host digital social activities, document the summer school, and be key contacts for the participating students. This is a great opportunity for you to work in an international environment, meet new people and develop your project management skills!

Your main role is to create a community for the participating students. You will host up to two digital social, interactive activities per week. These activities will be linked to sustainability. You will also document the summer school, for example by writing posts on our platform, taking online pictures and interviewing students. You will be a familiar face for the students. To maintain interaction and provide guidance, you will hold daily Q&A sessions and answer e-mails. Since the summer school and all the activities are being given entirely digitally and the students are in different time zones, it is especially important that every student feels welcome and included. And all this under the flag of sustainability. We estimate that you will be working between 25 and 30 hours per week, but note that this can vary a bit. In short, you can meet all these new people, build your CV and get paid 120 SEK/hour!

The summer school uses the following platforms:

  • Zoom for drop-in meetings
  • Microsoft Teams

Working hours and tasks have some flexibility. You will have the unique opportunity to work with the summer school team to shape the social framework for the participants.

You should meet the following requirements:

Required:

  • Be a registered student at GU
  • Be able to write and talk without problems in English (it’s of course good if you know more languages)
  • Have a strong interest in sustainable development (desirable)
  • Have international experience in some way (desirable)
  • Be an experienced user of digital tools
  • Be creative and adaptable
  • Be an experienced team player

Expression of interest

Provide a brief written statement in English telling us about yourself, your experiences and why you are perfect for this mission! Please also describe one concrete idea for a digital social activity related to sustainability that you would like to host. Remember, you want students to opt-in to your activity.

Submit by e-mail to: summerschool@gu.se, deadline is March 21, 2021.
